DHT is the hormone that is to blame for male pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia). When DHT is overproduced, it causes hair to fall out. Male pattern baldness usually begins either at the temples, creating a receding hair line, or at the crown, thinning the hair to the point of haiving a bald spot.
What can be done to stop male pattern baldness? There are many options to choose from. The options include medication, and natural hair growth herbs. The over the counter medicine, Monoxidil (Rogaine)is available over the counter, is applied to the scalp, and has no known side effects- other than occaisional scalp irritation or itching. One problem with Monoxidil, is that if you stop using it, all the new hair you have grown could fall out.
There is also a prescription medicine, Finasteride (Propecia), which is taken orally. Possible side effects include erectile dysfunction, lower libido (sexual desire), problems ejaculating, less semen, allergic reactions, such as itching, swelling, and rash. Women shouldn't use Propecia, and if a pregnant woman comes into contact with it, she should consult her doctor because it can cause birth defects in male babies.
Unlike the medications that are available, natural hair growth herbs have no known side effects, and it is rare to have any reaction to them, other than better health and an end to male pattern baldness. Using a natural hair growth herb is easy. They come in shampoo, massaging oil, pills, creams and supplements. You can even create a hair growth tea by mixing some of the natural hair growth herbs.
The main goal of anything for hair loss should be to block DHT. When you take a natural hair growth herb supplement, most likely it will contain Saw Palmetto Extract, and Nettle Root Extract. Saw Palmetto blocks DHT, Nettle Root increases circulation to the scalp, using vitamins A and C to nourish the hair follicles. Other natural hair growth herbs include aloe, licorice, marigold, sage, parsley, mulberries, and psoralea seeds.
Many supplements made from natural hair growth herbs also include vitamins (such as Antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E), minerals (such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc), and extracts. These things are all natural, and work together to block DHT and make new hair grow. Providing the proper nutrition, using natural hair growth herbs will stop the excessive loss of hair, and make sure the new hair you grow is healthy.
